Maine
Rocky coastlines, bays and islands, lakes
and mountains- consider Casco Bay area near Portland's vibrant
downtown, Camden-Rockland, Blue Hill and Downeast Maine, inland Lakes
Regions and Carabasset Valley, home to Sugarloaf USA. Maine has the
quality of life and attractive pricing for a four-season vacation home
New Hampshire and Vermont
Quaint New England communities abound along
rolling hillside communities- consider college towns of Keene or
Hanover, NH home to Dartmouth along the picturesque Connecticut River
Valley. Jackson in the White Mountains is a winter paradise in the
shadows of Mount Washington. Hop over the Connecticut River to Putney
Vermont and ski towns such as Stowe, or find a coastal home on Lake
Champlain and the bustling town of Burlington, home of UVM.
Massachusetts
From historical towns such as Concord and
Thorough's Walden Pond just outside Boston, to coastal hamlets of
Marblehead, Duxbury, Marion on Buzzard's Bay, Cape Cod and the Islands,
summer communities thrive with sailing and sun-soaked beaches. The
Berkshires are within a couple hour drive boasting lovely fall foliage.
Rhode Island
The Ocean State has true Yankee character.
For such a small state, the coastline is long. Visit Newport and old
Salt Farms turned Vineyards along the Sakonnet River, such as Tiverton,
Portsmouth, Middleton and the lovely community of Bristol. Narraganset
boasts beautiful cliff side homes along the west bay, and Wickford has
a lovely harbor and quaint old town. The south shore from Matunuck to
Westerly is a beach-goers haven.
Connecticut
Discover Southeastern Connecticut's Mystic
Seaport and noble Stonigton Village where everyone congregated at
Noah's restaurant for the morning news. Old Saybrook is home of the
late Kathryn Hepburn, a beautiful town where the river meets the sea.
East Greenwich is much more upscale- mingle with the weekenders who
work in the city. Western Connecticut's picturesque with rolling hills
of Westchester County along the Hudson River Valley.
New York and New Jersey
Manhattenites escape to the Hamptons,
Shelter Island and the exclusive enclave (and pretty beyond compare)
Fishers Island, just 3 miles of Noank on the Connecticut coast for
weekends and summer socials. The Adirondacks, beautiful Keene Valley,
Lake Placid are treasures for boating and exploring in the tradition of
the Rockefellers. Or try wines from the Finger Lakes and view fall
foliage upstate and western New York State, which stretches all the way
to the shores of Lake Ontario- Rochester is my favorite town on the
lake.
Chesapeake Bay Area
Annapolis and other towns along the Bay are
steeped in Colonial Tradition, and offer year round recreation. Sailing
on the Bay is a past time, and Bay Crabs make for a feast!

Virginia
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway for gorgeous mountain
vistas and fall foliage. The barrier islands are windswept and home to
wild horses. Virginia Beach is for surfers.
The Carolinas
Beaches and lakes, mountains and coast. Charleston is a beautiful town with Georgian style architecture and lovely gardens.
Georgia
Atlantic Island retreats- St. Simons Island,
Jekyll Island, Cumberland Island, The Golden Isles and old world
Savannah. Visit Altoona Lake outside Atlanta for a weekend getaway.
Florida
You will love the Latin flavor of South
Beach, Miami and escape to the keys- a short drive to Key Biscayne and
worthwhile trip to Key West! Sanibel and Captiva Islands on the Gulf
side are a sailors retreat and a shellseekers delight.
Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands
Culebra, Vieques- island paradise; Rin Con
and Mayaguez for surfing can not be beat. Escape to St. John in the
USVI and immerse yourself in an underwater coral reef beyond compare.
The Gulf Coast
Visit the French Quarter in New Orleans and
you will fall in love with Antebellum, Cajun jambalaya and music on
every street corner.

Idaho
Couer d'Alene is Tahoe 30 years ago- or ski at Sun Valley- a treat with light snow away from the crowds.
Jackson Hole
A younger skiers mecca with more steeps than
most western resorts. You will love the character and may rub elbows
with the Hollywood crowd venturing away from Vail.
Telluride, Crested Butte, Aspen, Vail
An old mining town turned ski town with a great downtown! Beautiful winter and summer's great outdoor music festivals.
Santa Fe and Taos
Southwest meets alpine skiing with champagne
powder and beautiful red rock. Santa Fe adobe homes are time-tested and
the artist community thrives.
The Great Lakes
Summer sailing and spring cherry blossoms
abound in Travers City. Michigan, and Mackinaw island with horse-drawn
carriages- step back into old summer retreats within throwing distance
of the UP and great white northern wilderness, where wolves and bear
abound!

Washington State
Puget sound- where you can take a ferry to
work in Seattle and return to your island home in the evening. Equally
great for vacation homes- try Port Townsend.
Oregon
Sleepy towns dot the Oregon coast and inland, Willamette Valley boasts over 300 wineries!
Northern California
Coastal towns such as Sausalito in Marin
County, Santa Cruz, Monterrey and Carmel are easy getaways from San
Francisco Bay Area. Venture northeast to Sonoma and Napa Valleys for
wine tasting galore, and further north to towns like Healdsburg and
Cloverdale for New England-like county towns.
Southern California
Rediscover LA's coastal towns- Redondo
Beach, Palos Verdes (I have seen snow at the crest!), Marina Del Ray,
Hermosa, and Manhattan Beaches. San Diego and Orange Counties offer
beach living with metropolitan delights. Discover Julian, a beautiful
mountain town on the way to Anza Borrego Desert.
Desert Southwest
Phoenix has grown into a multi facetted town with world-class
restaurants, shopping, entertainment and major sports teams such as the
Diamondbacks and Coyotes, it's a winter paradise for Midwesterners and
northerners, alike. Visit the ever expanding Scottsdale and head north
to Sedona to walk in ancient canyons.
Hawaii
Oahu's Kaneohe Bay is a yachtsman's paradise- Secret Beach near Kualoa
Ranch and the sandbar are fun outings, and the Mokalua Islands of
Kailua Beach are fun for kayaking and surfing the waves which wrap
around the islands. Snorkeling on the North Shore in summer is the best
time to enjoy calm seas. Kaui is unspoiled and worth a trip to the
Napali Coast. Visit Maui's Kula Lavendar Farm in the temperate town
above the posh resort town of Wailea. Kanapali and Napili Bay are
gorgeous beaches. The Big Island's Kohala Coast is pastoral with new
development and nice beaches- visit Waipio Valley for dramatic views,
waterfalls and a steep hike or 4-wheel drive down to a black sand beach.
